PeeWee C success in Nepean !!

The Richmond Munster Minor Hockey Association (RMMHA) Pee Wee "C" team were Runners-Up in the Nepean Minor Hockey Association (NMHA) Pee Wee tournament held on December 11, 12, and 13th at the Walter Baker Centre.  The RMMHA Pee Wee "C" team have struggled so far in League play, but had been showing consistent improvement under Coach Steve Lalonde.  The Nepean Tournament is where their hard work finally paid off.  The team lost their first game on Friday evening to the NMHA Warriors 4-0, but rebounded with two shutout victories (thanks to goalie Garrett Smith) on Saturday, 1-0 over the Ottawa South Capitals and then 2-0 over the Blackburn Stingers.  On Sunday morning the team met the Nepean Assassins in the semi-Final and eventually won an exciting game 3-2, scoring the winning goal with 2 minutes left in the 3rd Period.  The Royals then faced the Nepean Warriors again in the Final, but lost 2-0 after a hard fought match during which neither team scored for over 2 periods.  Despite not winning the Final, the RMMHA Pee Wee "C" team was very pleased with the result as it will be a turning point in their season.

Midget B White Tournament Success !!

On November 21st, Richmond Royals - Midget B White headed to sunny Renfrew for a one day tournament.  All games were held at Ma-te-Way Complex, our first game against Smiths Falls was rough, but Richmond came out on top by a score of 5-0, our second game was against Renfrew #2 - the Royals won in a shoot out victory (5-4) - this made us the only undefeated team in the tournament, and we moved to the A Final against Renfrew #1 - despite some very rough play - our team again was victorious to win by a score of 3 - 0.

Despite a great finish we unfortunately lost a few kids due to injury in the three tournament games - get well soon & we'll see you back on the ice !!! Our victory picture is complete except for tournament participants Matt Brown and Keith Clairoux - Congrats Midget White for a very well played tournament!!

Help prevent the spread of H1N1

Please ensure that you, as a RMMHA member,  read the guidelines published by Hockey Canada regarding the prevention of the H1N1 virus.   These important guidelines are available here.   This is a shared effort involving parents and your association.

Please note that Richmond Munster Minor Hockey (RMMHA) has already purchased separate water bottles for all players in an effort to reduce infection.

In particular coaches and parents should ensure:

1) Gloves are to remain on during post game hand shakes
2) Water bottles and towels are not to be shared under any circumstances

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kevin Ryan, RMMHA Risk Manager or any member of the executive for further information.

Novice B Blue Team Finalist in Russell Tournament

On January 23rd , the Richmond Novice B Blue team made their way to Russell for a tournament. Our first game was on Saturday against Russell. The kids got off to a slow start in the first period but turned it on in the second half of the 1st and the rest of the game.  This resulted in a 9 – 0 win for Richmond with Tyler Ayotte getting the POG award with a hat trick and 2 assists. The second game was on Sunday against Cumberland B where the kids again played with confidence and as team. This resulted in a 9 – 2 win over Cumberland B with Shane Beresford getting the POG award for his 2 goals and 2 assists. These two wins secured second place for us, going into the semi-finals where we faced Cumberland again who finished the round robin in 3rd spot. The team was very excited about this match up and that excitement was carried onto the ice. This resulted in a 10 – 0 win for Richmond with Kayle Osborne receiving the POG award with her second shutout of the tournament. The kids had a 30 minute break and were back on the ice for Championship game against St-Isidore. The kids got off to a great start but then started running  out of energy fast, resulting in a 7 -1 loss with Braydon Thomas getting the POG award. But the coaching staff and parents were very proud of the kids for not giving up and battling to the very end of the game.  The success of this tournament is result of the kids playing as a team and having fun.

Congratulations Richmond Novice B Blue for this excellent performance!!! Also Thanks to Russell Minor Hockey for putting on a great tournament!!   Click to enlarge picture
